We take all things into consideration: do you have kids? will the grass be heavily used? are there dogs or other animals on the property? how much sunlight will the area get?
We will never sell you a product that will not be successful with the right care and maintenance!
Tall Fescue
- One of the most highly aesthetic and commonly chosen lawn types for residential properties.
- Rich, lush green colour
- Durable, however daily use for dogs and children is not recommended.
- Heat and drought tolerant
- Coarse blade
- Tends to be more disease tolerant when compared to Rye Grass
- Resistance to biting and chewing insects
- Will require watering during long dry periods to avoid it browning off and going dormant.
- Apply fertiliser during spring, summer, autumn. Do not use any urea or ammonium based fertilisers as this will 'burn' the lawn.
- Ideal mowing height is 50mm
Fine Fescue
- Popular for it's super fine, soft look and feel.
- Prefers a milder climate. Fine Fescue will often enter dormancy during our hot summer months, but will recover again come Autumn.
- Demands regular feeding, watering and mowing to keep it at it's best. Do not use any urea or ammonium based fertilisers as this will 'burn' the lawn.
- Not ideal for pet owners, or high traffic and children's play areas.
- Ideal mowing height is 25-30mm
Rye Fescue Blend
- Fast establishing species
- Prefers a milder climate but adaptable to NZ climates and will tolerate the cold and some shade.
- Will require watering during prolonged dry periods.
- Not ideal for pets and high traffic or play areas.
- Demands regular feeding, watering, and mowing.
- Ideal mowing height is 25mm
Couch
- Popular for golf courses, schools, sports fields and amenity areas
- High pet tolerance
- Summer prominent
- Dormant in winter and will appear brown or grey in colouration
- Prefers sun and doesn't fair well in shade
- Ideal mowing height is 15mm
- Usually available November through to April
Kikuyu
- Creeping, perennial, mat-forming grass
- Grows rapidly
- Extremely durable and tolerates wet and drought conditions, salt, wind, damage and grazing, and most soils
- Great choice if you have high traffic areas and pets
- Intolerant of frost and shade
- Only requires light rain for growth
- Popular for golf courses, schools, sports fields and amenity areas due to it's hard-wearing nature
- Green in summer, dormant in winter with a brown-like colouration. Bounces back quickly in Spring.
- Ideal mowing height 12mm
- Usually available November through to April
